Chattanooga women’s basketball saw itself well-represented on the annual CSC Academic All-District Team that was revealed on Tuesday, as Brooke Anya, Frode Flos van der Schans and Sigrun Olafsdottir each earned a spot on the prestigious list of scholars, as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
To receive a CSC Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must possess a 3.50 cumulative GPA and either compete in 90 percent of their team’s games or start in at least 66 percent of their team’s games on the year.
If a student-athlete is a graduate student, they must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA as both an undergraduate and grad student.
Brooke Anya received the first CSC Academic All-District of her career on Tuesday after the grad student put together a flawless 4.0 GPA as she pursues her MBA from Chattanooga. The Washington, D.C., native has already raked in numerous other academic awards from her time prior to joining the Mocs this past offseason, including being a multi-time Dean’s List, Honor Roll and Academic All-Conference honoree during her stints at Hofstra and Longwood.
Anya played in all 32 games of UTC’s 2024-25 season, including making a total of 27 starts for the Mocs.
Frode Flos van der Schans also received the first Academic All-District honor of her career from the CSC as she possesses a 3.80 GPA while pursuing her degree in Mechanical Engineering from UTC. Since arriving in the Scenic City in 2022, van der Schans has been honored on UTC’s Dean’s List and AD’s Honor Roll in every single semester she’s been a part of the program.
Flo checked into a total of 30 games for the Mocs this past season, a massive jump compared to last season in which the Amsterdam, Netherlands, native only appeared in a total of 10 contests.
Last but not least, Sigrun Olafsdottir earned her third CSC Academic All-District nod after notching a 3.82 GPA as she works towards earning her MBA from Chattanooga as well. In her career that has now spanned five years with the Mocs, Olafsdottir has received nearly every possible academic accolade one could in a collegiate career, including being the SoCon’s 2024 Pinnacle Award winner for women’s basketball, which is awarded to the player with the highest GPA on a championship-winning program.
Not only did Olafsdottir start and play in all 32 games of the regular and postseason this year, but the Iceland native set numerous records over the course of the season including playing in the most career games of any men’s OR women’s basketball player in Chattanooga history (152). Olafsdottir also received SoCon All-Defensive Team honors for the second consecutive season, joining Abbey Cornelius as the only two-time All-Defensive Team honoree is program history.
The 2025 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, Second and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees for women’s basketball will be announced on April 16, 2025.
