Chattanooga Golfer Kera Healey Named SoCon Golfer Of The Week

  • Wednesday, March 26, 2025
Chattanooga Mocs junior Kera Healey is the Southern Conference Golfer of the Week. The league announced the award on Wednesday afternoon.

Healey is coming off her first top 20 of the season completing the Florida State Match Up in a tie for 19th against a stellar field. She bounced back from an opening 78 with rounds of 73 and 74 for a 255 total which was more than five shots better than the average for the weekend.

"We're really proud of Kera," Coach Colette Murray shared.
"I think this is a huge confidence boost leading into our home tournament. She's worked really, really hard on her putting, and that was really the only part of her game that was kind of holding her back.

"I really think this is just the start of things to come for her, and the progress that she's made just this semester."

Healey beat two top 75 players and by strong margins. She was six better than No. 72 Moa Svedenskiold of Houston and nine clear of No. 61 Ryann Honea from Abilene Christian.

Healey has dropped her season scoring by nearly half a stroke over three spring events. She played the fall at 74.92 and is currently second on the team with 74.43 strokes per 18 overall coming in at 73.78 over her nine spring cards.

This is the second SoCon honor of Healey’s career. She was Golfer of the Month in March 2023. It’s also the second by a Moc in 2024-25 with Violeta Fernandez-Tagle earning Golfer of the Week exactly one month ago on Feb. 26 for her play at the Westbrook Invitational.

It’s home week for the ladies hosting the Chattanooga Classic. The 3-day, 54-hole event is at the Honors Course Friday through Sunday March 28-30. Admission is FREE.
