Senior Olivia Lipari’s fourth inning home run was the difference in Chattanooga’s 2-1 win over Lipscomb Tuesday evening at Frost Stadium. The Mocs claimed their 30th win over the season improving to 30-11 overall while the Bisons fall to 20-23 on the year.
Lipari drove a lead-off homer over the fence in left field in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 2-0 game. It was her sixth home run this season and 31st RBI.
Chattanooga’s first run came in the bottom of the first inning.
Kailey Snell led off with a single to right field and stole second. Camryn Cernuto bunted her over to third and a single to right field by Acelynn Sellers put the Mocs on the board.
No Lipscomb base runner reached until the third, but the Bison stranded all three they had over the next three innings. However, the seventh broke up the no-hit attempt for Long.
With one out, Lipscomb drove a solo home run over the fence in right to break up the no-hitter and cut the Mocs lead in half. The next batter grounded out and Long struck out the final to end the game.
Long struck out eight batters and improved to 11-1 this season. She tallied her fourth one-hitter of the year.
Lipari went 2-for-3 with a home run and Snell was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and scored a run. Sellers was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Raven Jones went 1-for-2.
