John A. Burch, Jr. "John-John", departed from this earthly realm to join his heavenly Father, gaining his wings in the process on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

John exemplified strength, courage, and boundless love and compassion. He was a genuine, kind-hearted, and extraordinary man—a devoted husband, father, brother, Paw-Paw, uncle, cousin, and the most loyal and protective friend anyone could be blessed to have.

John will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, his heart of gold, his joyful dance moves, and his encouraging spirit. His protective nature and unwavering love for the New England Patriots were also defining traits. During his time at Howard High School, he showcased his athleticism by playing both football and basketball.

John truly cherished his life until God called him home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Burch, Sr., and his brother, Winifred "Butch" Burch.

His memory will be forever cherished by his surviving family, including his loving and devoted wife, Tammy D. Burch, and his children: John A. Burch, III (Katesia Smith), Dominique Tucker, DeVonte’ Lomnick, Keundra (Rodney) Henderson, Keandra (Darryl) Paris, Markeda Tucker, Laneishia Tucker, and LaKeisha Dozier.

John is also survived by his sisters, Linda Burch, Johnetta (Carl) Hanns, and Sarita Burch; his brothers, Johnny Moss and Greg Hobdley, Sr.; and a host of grandchildren, including JaKenzie Burch, Jamar Burch, Rodney Henderson, Jr., King and Keely Henderson, Kequan Tucker, MJ Tucker, Kiley Tucker, Patience Haggard, Brynezshia Sims, Jamya Tucker, London Tucker, Kariyah Burch, and Ta’Kyius Tucker. He is further survived by his uncle, Henry Dillard; aunt, Ruby Dillard; mother-in-law, Linda (Junior) Harrison; sisters-in-law, Lisa Rooks and Erica (Kenny) Brooks; as well as his nieces and nephews, Toneisha Burch, Carleisha Hanns, Kenasia Brooks, Kara Brooks, Greg Hobdley, Darrius Burch, Carlos and Devon Hanns, Quintrell Tucker, and Ryan Bulloch.

Public viewing will take place on Monday, April 21, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

A celebration of John’s life is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home,1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
