Baylor Captures Titles at 68th Annual Rotary Tennis Tournament

The Baylor School’s tennis teams showcased exceptional talent and determination at the 68th Annual Chattanooga Rotary Tennis Tournament, securing championships in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions. Their collective performances across singles and doubles flights underscored the depth and strength of Baylor’s tennis program.

Boys’ Team Results:

Singles:
• Flight 1: Arya Kallambella – Champion (Win by Walkover)
• Flight 2: Anurag Kallambella – Champion (7-5, 6-3)
• Flight 3: Jackson Mactaggart – Champion (6-0, 6-4)
• Flight 4: Fernando Navarro – Champion (6-2, 6-2)
• Flight 5: Wade Donovan – Runner-Up (2-6, 6-7 [5-7])
• Flight 6: Keller Veltenaar – Semifinalist (6-0, 3-6, 6-7 [5-7])

Doubles:
• Flight 1: Fernando Navarro / Jackson Mactaggart – Champions (8-4)
• Flight 2: Wade Donovan / Anurag Kallambella – Runners-Up (7-9)
• Flight 3: Arya Kallambella / Patrick Mactaggart – Champions (8-3)

The boys’ team displayed remarkable consistency, clinching victories in four of six singles flights and two of three doubles flights, contributing significantly to their overall team championship.

Girls’ Team Results:

Singles:
• Flight 1: Margarette Berdy – Runner-Up
• Flight 2: Sloan Proffitt – Champion (6-1, 6-3)
• Flight 3: Evie Mahler – Champion (6-2, 6-1)
• Flight 4: Anne Bradley Cullen – Consolation Runner-Up (4-6, 1-6)
• Flight 5: Claudia Finlay – Champion (6-4, 7-6 [7-4])
• Flight 6: Molly Donovan – Champion (6-0, 6-2)

Doubles:
• Flight 1: Margarette Berdy / Evie Mahler – Runners-Up
• Flight 2: Claudia Finlay / Sloan Proffitt – Champions
• Flight 3: Molly Donovan / Mae Mae Garrett – Runners-Up

The girls’ team demonstrated exceptional prowess, securing championships in four of six singles flights and one doubles flight, playing a pivotal role in Baylor’s overall success at the tournament.
