Charlotte Ann Howard, age 78, of Middle Valley, Tennessee, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 31, 2025, while holding the hands of her beloved children.

Charlotte was a devoted wife for 50 years to her high school sweetheart, Bobby Howard, who preceded her in death. A faithful member of Melville Baptist Church, Charlotte lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law whose strength and kindness touched everyone she met.

Charlotte graduated from Red Bank High School in the Class of 1964 and later retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority after over 30 years of dedicated service. She was the past president of the Chattanooga Junior Club and an active member in numerous civic organizations, always finding ways to give back to her community.

As the daughter of Master Sergeant Thomas Hartline, Charlotte experienced life on several Army bases across the United States and in Germany, shaping her love for travel and adventure. She cherished time spent with her family and friends on cruises and beach trips, always finding joy in creating special memories together.

Charlotte was deeply involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives, often seen cheering them on from the sidelines at Middle Valley Recreation and Red Bank High School as a proud coach’s wife and supportive mother. She was also the loving companion for 17 years to her sweet dog, Charlie, who brought her much joy and comfort.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Virginia Hartline, and her beloved husband, Bobby.

She is survived by her loving children: Johnny (Donnell) Howard, David (Wendy) Howard, and Misty Howard Roberts; her cherished grandchildren: Andrew, (Shelley), Michael (Bethany), Zack (Madison), Allyssa (Kevin) Noah (Megan) Brayden, and Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Camden, Carter, John David, Ryker, Kolton and Callahan; her cousins who were like sisters to her, Freddie Jean Godsmark and Carolyn Heaton; and her best friends: Shelby Taylor, Jackie Clayton, and Kathy Stennson. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and to Kim’s Caretaker Service, especially Tiffany, Christie, and Melissa, for their compassionate care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dwight Martin and her son, Johnny Howard officiating.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Andrew, Michael, Zack, Noah, Brayden, Sawyer and Kevin serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379, 423 843-2525.
