Wayne Allen Sharpe, 74, of Suck Creek, Tennessee, passed away on August 10, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Wayne was born on Oct. 22, 1950, in Chattanooga, he was the son of Reba and James “Jim” Sharpe. Wayne was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga/Suck Creek. He graduated from Red Bank High School, class of 1968.

Wayne served in the United States Army from January 1971-January 1973.

Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Reba Sharpe, father James “Jim” Sharpe, and brother Ronnie Sharpe.

His is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janie Thompson Sharpe, sons; Allen (Cindy) Sharpe of Whitwell, Louie (Michele) Sharpe of New York, NY, Ricky (Rhonda) Smith of Suck Creek Mountain, grandchildren; Katlyn (Robby) Layne of Whitwell, Ashlyn Sharpe and Colby Sharpe of Whitwell, Peyton Sharpe of New York, NY, Justin (Ariel) Smith and Savannah (Corey) Lewis, all of Suck Creek Mountain, great-grandchildren; Landry and Cooper Layne, Braylee and Gracelyn Lewis, and Parker Smith, Brother; Robert “Bob” Sharpe of Soddy Daisy, and special friend, Dewayne Hedrick of Soddy Daisy.

Wayne drove a school bus for Hamilton County Schools for 10 years, then he went on to own Signal Mountain Amoco for 19 years. In the most recent years, Wayne had a specific route that he would travel daily to see all of his friends at Rumors, Merv’s, and River Drifters, where he had many friends who loved and adored him.

The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. CST on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. CST on Monday, Aug. 18, at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Kel Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Smith, Corey Lewis, Kevin Smith, Richard Francis, Al Stott and Delon Henegar.
