Landham Won't Have To Turn Over Valleybrook List

  • Friday, April 26, 2002

A judge has ruled that longtime Valleybrook Golf Club operator Rob Landham will not have to turn over the club membership list to the new operator, Gibby Gilbert.

Mr. Landham has operated the course for 22 years under a lease from the Drake family, Valleybrook owners.

However, David Drake, son of Valleybrook founder Carl Drake who died recently, switched the lease.

Mr. Gilbert, who is a professional golfer and whose father, Gibby Gilbert, has won several PGA tour events, is due to take over operation of the course on May 1.

David Drake had filed suit in Circuit Court on the issue of the membership list as well as certain fixtures that he said should stay.

But Judge Neil Thomas ruled for Mr. Landham after hearing over a day of testimony.

He said he was not required to turn over the list and he did not put down an injunction regarding the fixtures.

Marvin Berke, attorney for Mr. Landham, said some Valleybrook members did not want the Drake family to have access to information in the list.

It was testified that many of the members' names could be accessed via the PGA website based on player handicaps.
