Katie Geismar Scores As Sewanee Blanks Principia

SEWANEE - In a first round match of the Sewanee Classic, the host Tigers defeated Principia, 6-0, as six different players scored goals. Emory defeated Greensboro (N.C), 4-1 in the other first round match.

Sewanee led 1-0 at halftime as freshmen Katie Geismar (match-winning goal) put Sewanee on the board with an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute. She formerly played for Baylor School.

Freshmen Eliza Greenman and Rhett Smith, plus senior Amanda Seifert, junior Hannah Johnson and sophomore Laurel Howell found the nets in the second half.

Assists were credited to freshmen Katie Norfleet, Mary Pate and Geismar and sophomore Callie Jennings. Sewanee goalkeepers Christy Nelson and Lauren Gilbert shared the shutout with each playing 45 minutes.
