Two Lafayette men were arrested separately Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning and charged with murder in the death of Bryan Dunbar Jewell, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Both men were also charged with arson.

Jose Medina, 48, of 4516 Old Mineral Springs Road, LaFayette, and Donald E. Sharp, 37, of 1026 Wheeler Road, LaFayette, were arrested and booked at the Walker County jail on the felony charges.

The homicide was reported to the Walker County 911 Center Tuesday morning. The anonymous call came from a pay telephone at 8:30 a.m.

Walker County deputies arriving at 138 Castleberry Road, Lafayette, discovered the body of the 45-year-old Jewell inside the residence. The initial cause of death appeared to be due to a gunshot.

The body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Summerville, Ga, where an autopsy was to be performed early Wednesday.

Memorial services for Mr. Jewell will be Friday at 4 p.m. in the J. Avery Bryan Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home at Chickamauga.
