Krystal Makes Move Into Texas

The Krystal hamburger that originated in Chattanooga is now coming to cities across Texas.

Three Texas-based franchise groups that have signed deals with The Krystal Company. Eighteen new Krystal restaurants are scheduled to open across the state in the next 48
months.

The first of the new Texas Krystal
restaurants are set to debut in Dallas and Houston in November 2004,
followed by Austin in early 2005.

"We are very excited about bringing Krystal restaurants to Texas, and
it’s certainly appropriate that they are arriving in multiples.
Krystal is committed to developing the entire state by franchising
exclusive multi-unit territories,” said Glen Griffiths, vice president
of franchise development.

There are currently two Krystal restaurants already operating in
Texas, including one company run store in Beaumont and one restaurant
in the Waco/Killeen area operated by franchise partners Money Back,
L.P.

With more than 430 Krystal
restaurants in 12 states throughout the South, this expansion is the
farthest west The Krystal Company has reached in its near 72-year history.

Adding to the two existing Krystal restaurants in Texas, Little Foods
Franchise Group, LLC, Westward Ventures, LLC, and Hilltoppers, Inc will collectively open 15 restaurants in the next four years, with each
receiving exclusive territorial rights. Money Back, L.P., which
operates the existing Krystal restaurant in the Waco/Killeen area,
plans to open three more stores in the market by 2008, bringing the
total of new Krystal restaurants scheduled to open in the next 48
months to 18. All franchise groups have the potential of adding more
quick service restaurants in their respective markets over several
years.

Little Foods Franchise Group, LLC is a north Dallas-based company and
expects to open its first of five restaurants in the Metroplex market
in Carrollton by late November. Led by franchise owner David Friedman,
Little Foods Franchise Group, LLC owns the franchise territory in
Dallas and Denton counties and retains rights to a small portion of
Tarrant County.

Westward Ventures, LLC, will launch Krystal’s first foray into
northwest Houston in late November. Under the guidance of Brad
Bartlett and Mark Stewart, the Houston-based franchise will expand
throughout its exclusive territory with an additional six restaurants,
including the College Station/Bryan area.

Austin-based Hilltoppers, Inc. will retain exclusive rights to
Williamson County and open its first Krystal restaurant along I-35 and
Williams road in Georgetown early in 2005. The investment group, which
is led by Scott Parshall, plans to open three restaurants in the
Central Texas county.
