Fred A. Womack, 83, of East Ridge, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in a local hospital.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was retired from the Chattanooga Times-Free Press after 49 years of service.

He was a member of the Hickory Valley Community Church and the Men’s Bible Class.

He was preceded in death by a brother, W.R. Womack.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Page Womack; son, Arlan P. Womack, Ringgold, GA; sister, Frances White, Chattanooga; and two grandchildren, Jason and Jenny Womack.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Duke Stone and the Rev. Allen Davis officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
