Mary Ellen Jones Cunningham, 76, a resident of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at the Life Care Center of Collegedale.

Mrs. Cunningham was a native of Newville, AL, and a daughter of the late Samuel Jones and Rosa Taylor Jones.

She lived in Ocala, FL, before moving to Chattanooga. Mrs. Cunningham was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and also was ministered to by the staff and members of Woodland Park Baptist Church. She will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful smile and determination while living with a physical disability.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Doyce Payne, Chattanooga; two sons, Philip (Cheryl) Cunningham, Chattanooga; George Cunningham, Spokane, WA; a twin sister, Rose (Charles) Kerby, Newton, AL; two brothers, Benny Jones, Montgomery, AL, and Ovie (Luvonne) Jones, Headland, AL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family gives special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Collegedale and Adventa Hospice of Chattanooga.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. CST on Sunday, in Newton, AL, with arrangements through Heritage Funeral Home, Chattanooga, and Holman-Headland Mortuary, Headland, AL.
