Mary Ellen McCullough Jett, 92, of Chattanooga, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at her home at Martin-Boyd Christian Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, where she was educated in public schools.
She had been a member of Ridgedale Church of Christ since 1937. A career homemaker, she was active in the PTA and as a substitute teacher when her children were of school age.
She is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, retired Chattanooga Fire Chief Harry Jett. Additional survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Harriet Jett McQueen and Leon McQueen of Clarksville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Steve Jett and Wanda Jett of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Andy McQueen and wife Candice of Nashville, Jeff McQueen and wife Alicia of Clarksville, Christy Jett of Chattanooga and Austin Jett of San Jose, Costa Rica. She is also survived by great-granddaughters, Hyson Jett of Chattanooga and Abigail McQueen of Nashville.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, at Ridgedale Church of Christ, 1005 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, and will be conducted by her son, son-in-law and grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Tom Jett, Jim McDermott, Joel Jett, Jim Sauls, Andy McQueen, Jeff McQueen and Austin Jett.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, at Ridgedale Church of Christ, and again from noon until time for the funeral service on Monday.
There will be a private burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Friends wishing to make a memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers are encouraged to remember Boyd-Buchanan School or Martin-Boyd Christian Center.
