Janet Leland Windle, 65, of Signal Mountain died on Friday, June 10, 2005.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where she had served as former parish secretary, Sunday school teacher, director of religious education and was a parish council member. She was a member of DCCW and a Lay Pastoral Minister.
She graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1980 and was the associate campus minister at UTC Catholic Student Center. Mrs. Windle was retired from St. Jude School as a teacher.
She was an auxiliary probation officer for Hamilton County Juvenile Court. She was presented at the Cotton Ball in the 1950's and was one heck of a "Grandmommy."
She is survived by her husband, David F. Windle; four daughters, Kathleen Driver, Roanoke, VA, Jane Miles, Meg Walker and Anne Lawrence, all of Signal Mountain; 13 grandchildren, David Driver, Daniel Driver, Kaitlin Driver, Lance Lawson, Sarah Miles, Christopher Miles, Lauren Walker, Lindsey Walker, Kristen Walker, Rebecca Lawrence, Catherine Lawrence, Grace Lawrence, and Stephen Lawrence; two sisters, Joan Spittler, Phoenix, AZ and Betty Sompayrac, Hixson, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Ai Humbrecht serving as the chief celebrant.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 1:30-2 p.m. on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
