Rosa Nell Benson Buyck, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005.
She was born on May 26, 1923, in Carrollton, GA, to the late Eddie and Lula Bassett Benson.
She was educated in the Carrollton County school system until the age of 15. The family moved to Chattanooga, where she attended and graduated from Howard High School in 1943.
Rosa Nell gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Warren Chapel AME Church for over 50 years, where she sang in the Adult Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Buyck; daughters, Brenda Y. Buyck and Rosalind F. Buyck Vann; sisters, Edwina Robinson, Ida Mae Rowe and Lilla Ransom; and brother, James Benson.
She is survived by her daughters, Albertine Buyck Thompson, of Creve Coeur, MO, and Sharon Buyck (Edward) Lawrence, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Byron Buyck Sr., of Chattanooga, Lisa Thompson, of Creve Coeur, MO, and Neal Thompson Jr., of Miami, FL; great-grandchildren, Stephen Hart, Dominique Buyck and Breonna Buyck, all of Chattanooga, Byron Buyck Jr., of Stone Mountain, GA, Steffon Green, of South Carolina, Christian Darby, of Creve Coeur, MO, Kamal Thompson, of Bel Air, MD, and Neal Thompson III, of Miami, FL; sister-in-law, Helen Hollyfield, of Wetumpka, AL; brothers-in-law, Jeremiah Buyck, of Wetumpka, and Edward L. Robinson, of Chattanooga; a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren Chapel AME Church, 503 N. Market St., with Pastor Charlene Boone officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Taylor Funeral Home.
