Jonathon "Lance" Henson, 20, died on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006.

He was born in Fort Oglethorpe, and had been a lifelong resident of Chickamauga. He was of the Class of 2004 from Gordon Lee Memorial High School where he wore the #4 jersey for the "Mighty Trojans Football Team." He enjoyed playing baseball for the Chickamauga Recreation Association and also ran track for Gordon Lee. His senior year he received the superlative of "Best Looking."

He enjoyed fishing for anything that would bite, especially large mouth bass. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Fairview, Ga. He was a student at Northwestern Technical College and was employed as a carpenter for Heritage Renovations.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ben Huffman "Pop" Henson Sr.

He is survived by his parents, Ben and Tina O’Neal Henson; sister, Ashley Renee Henson; grandparents, Charles "Beaver" and Carolyn O’Neal, all of Chickamauga; grandmother, Mary Henson Hess, of Rossville; aunts and uncles, Karen and Terry Ellison, of Chickamauga, Chris and Kathy O’Neal, of Cullman, Al.; honorary uncle, Mark Green, of Rising Fawn; cousins, Corey Ellison, of Kennesaw, Stacey Taylor and Waylan Taylor, of Rock Spring; and his beloved dog, Maggie Mae.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastors Paul O’Neal and Derrell O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Chickamauga Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-9 p.m., after 11 a.m. Thursday, and after 11 a.m. Friday until the service.
