Chattanooga Association Of REALTORS Installs Officers

  • Thursday, December 21, 2006

The Chattanooga Association of REALTORS held their installation ceremony for the new 2007 Officers and Directors at a luncheon last Thursday.

Officially taking office as President on the first of the year will be Jason Farmer. Jim O'Dell will serve as President-Elect and Pam Duffy will be the group's Secretary/Treasurer.

The newest Association Board of Directors members will be Mark Hite, Andy Hodes, Happy Huddleston, Liz Johnson, Jim King, and Janice Robertson. Also joining the Board is Multiple Listing Service President Dan Griess, Commercial Investment Council President Joe Pleva and Northwest Georgia Council President Chris Davis.

Y.L. Coker, Bobby Colvin, Jennifer Grayson, Marie King, Nickie Schwartzkopf, and Kathy Tucker remain on the Board and will continue to serve the Association and its members.

Installing Mr. Farmer was 2006 Tennessee REALTOR of the Year George Kangles, who also happened to serve as the area President when Mr. Farmer first joined the Chattanooga Association of REALTORS in 1999. Speaking to the importance of serving, Mr. Kangles shared, "It is not enough to do well in our industry, we must also do well for our industry." Mr. Kangles then pledged to continue working to advance the Association under Mr. Farmer's leadership in any way he is asked.

Addressing the members, Mr. Farmer directed them to focus on creating a better organization for everyone. He challenged the Association to, "Work to set a path to do what is right. Real estate is a strong industry; we can make it stronger together."

Outgoing President, Kathy Tucker, who was elected as a Division Vice President for the Tennessee Association of REALTORS, thanked everyone for a great year and expressed her confidence in Mr. Farmer and the direction of the Association and real estate industry. Ms. Tucker also surprised Robert Fisher with the President's Award, an honor reserved for REALTORS who have made a significant contribution to the Association over the year. Mr. Fisher earned the award for his service as the Chairman of the New Building Task Force. The new building will be completed later in 2007.

The Chattanooga Association of REALTORS is made up over 2,000 members engaged in every aspect of the real estate profession in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. Area REALTORS have helped make real estate a major driving force in the economy for nearly 100 years while also serving as a representative for the free enterprise system and the protection of private property rights. The organization is part of a network that includes the National Association of REALTORS stationed in both Chicago and Washington, DC, the Tennessee Association of REALTORS headquartered in Nashville, and the Georgia Association of REALTORS in Atlanta.
