The Chattanooga firm of Kinsey Probasco Hays & Associates will present plans for the Sunsphere at World’s Fair Park in Knoxville to the Knoxville City Council on Thursday.
The proposals includes an observation deck, a restaurant, space for special events and offices for a Knoxville public relations firm, the Knoxville News-Sentinel said.
The observation deck on the fourth-floor would be open to the public and a restaurant would be on the fifth floor, the newspaper reported. The special events would be on the sixth floor.
Kinsey Probasco Hays & Associates is also redeveloping the Candy Factory site at the 1982 fair site.
The Sunsphere has not been open to public tours since 1999.
The Chattanooga firm is seeking to lease the landmark from the city of Knoxville.
The 266-foot tall steel tower includes a five-story globe made up of bronze-coated reflective glass at the top. A restaurant operated in the globe during the World's Fair.
