Devastated CHI Arthritis And Rheumatology Is Closing - And Response

  • Thursday, June 19, 2025

I hope this message finds you all well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent announcement that the CHI Arthritis and Rheumatology will be closing its doors. As a member of the community who has benefitted greatly from the care provided by this practice, I am deeply troubled by the impact this closure will have on the patients who rely on it for essential medical care.

For many individuals, including myself, the office, for many years, has been a vital resource for managing chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other autoimmune disorders. Personally, this will severely impact my care and I'm in poor health. Specialists and staff have been instrumental in not only providing expert treatment but also in offering the much-needed support and continuity of care. Losing access to this care leaves patients with few options, especially considering the already limited availability of rheumatologists in our area.

As we are aware, patients with chronic conditions face significant challenges when it comes to managing their health, and disruptions like this can lead to worsened symptoms, complications and overall distress. The lack of rheumatology services in our community presents a serious concern for many individuals who are now left without a doctor to monitor their treatment plans, manage prescriptions or provide the specialized care they need.

I respectfully request that Memorial explore solutions to ensure that these patients (including myself) are not left without care. This may include the identification of alternative providers, temporary arrangements or even outreach to larger medical networks to facilitate continuity of care for those affected.

Additionally, I would appreciate any guidance or recommendations for patients who are currently without a rheumatologist. Information about the nearest available care providers or steps we can take to navigate this situation would be invaluable.

I trust that you understand the gravity of this issue and the significant impact it is having on patients in our community. I look forward to your response and any efforts to help address this gap in care.

I am absolutely devastated, disappointed and disgusted with this decision.

Ms. Riveria, I can certainly sympathize with you concerning the closing of the Arthritis Practice at CHI.

I have arthritis and I go to Arthritis Associates in Hixson.  They are located behind the Post Office at Northgate Mall.  Phone # 423-826-0800.

Call, they are wonderful. Me and several of my neighbors go to Arthritis Associates and they are very dedicated and caring of their patients.  They can help.  Good Luck.
Respectfully,
