Panthers Finish Fourth In Thanksgiving Event

FREEPORT, Bahamas -- Brainerd's Panthers, coached by Robert High, finished fourth last weekin the Tabernacle Baptist Academy Thanksgiving High School Basketball Tournament.

Making the all-tournament team for the Panthers were Fred Sturdivant and Derrick Duncan.

Brainerd went 3-3 in the tournament, losing to nationally ranked (16) Pinewood Prep from Charleston, S.C., Columbia, Ga., and the host Tabernacle Academy team.

The Panthers lost by only three points to Pinewood.

Former Tennessee All-American offensive lineman Bill Johnson has died. He passed away at his home in Sparta, Tennessee, on Sunday. He was 84. Mr. Johnson, a three-year letter winner for the Vols, helped usher in the Bowden Wyatt coaching era with three consecutive winning seasons and a SEC Championship.
