Upperman's Davis Chosen Miss Basketball; Marshall County Wins AA State Title

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The winner of the Division I Class AA Miss Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game Saturday at the Murphy Center
on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

LaShay Davis of Upperman High School was chosen Miss Basketball for 2008. The other two finalists were Chantel Poston of Milan High School and Crystal Riley of Hillcrest High School.

Davis is a 5-foot-7 junior guard. She is a three-year starter at Upperman
who averages 18.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.

She shoots 51.4 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from three-point range, and 70.3 percent from the free-throw line. She has been chosen the District 7-AA MVP in 2007 and 2008 and was chosen the Region 4-AA MVP in 2007.

She was an All-Midstate and All-State selection in 2007, who has scored more than 1,600 points in her career at Upperman. She has a 3.5 GPA.
