  • Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Chattanooga-based Propex Operating Company, LLC, today announced that its board of managers has appointed Board Member John Byrne as the interim chief executive officer, effective today.

He replaces Stan Brant, whose resignation as Propex's president and chief executive officer was accepted by the board of managers on Oct. 13.

Officials said, "John Byrne is a proven leader with experience as a chief executive, most recently serving as the chief executive officer of Protective Industries, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of injection molded, vinyl dipped and extruded parts sold into virtually every manufacturing sector."

Prior to serving as Protective Industries' CEO, Mr. Byrne spent 27 years with Mark IV Industries, Inc., ultimately serving as the company's chief financial officer.

The Propex leadership team of Ralph Bruno, executive vice president of sales and marketing; Randy Powell, executive vice president of operations; and Dan Zimmerlee, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will report directly to Mr. Byrne and will continue to lead the growth and diversification of the Propex global businesses, it was stated.

The board of managers and the leadership team of Propex "expressed their gratitude to Stan Brant for his dedication, leadership and contributions to the company over the years," officials said.

The Propex board of managers "has begun an aggressive search for a world-class CEO to lead the company into the future," it was stated.

Propex Operating Company, LLC is "a global leader in the development, design, and manufacturing of brands and products that create advantages for customers. Propex's footprint covers three continents, with 11 facilities totaling over five million square feet of manufacturing and more than 2,000 teammates focused on the markets the company serves."
