Crime Stoppers: 1998 Murder Of 17-Year-Old Girl

  • Thursday, February 4, 2010

This week’s Crime Stoppers feature case is a 1998 North Georgia murder investigation.

In mid-July, 1998, 17-year-old Connie Beard of Ringgold went to visit her boyfriend near Dalton. A day and a half later she was reported missing.

Initially she was thought to be a runaway but as time passed, foul play was suspected.

In October of 1998 utility workers stumbled upon Ms. Beard’s skeletal remains in a shallow grave in Murray County, Ga. A murder investigation was initiated but leads were slim.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents coordinated the leads that crossed three counties. Ms. Beard lived in Catoosa County Georgia, went missing from Whitfield County, and her body was located in Murray County.

Any new information in this case could be the lead that investigators need to make an arrest and bring this 12 year old case to a close. To report any information call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333. The confidential call could result in a cash reward of up to $1,000.
