Billy Womack
Coach William “Billy” Tasman Womack, also known as Socky, 59, of Ringgold, Ga., died on February 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on July 12, 1951, in Chattanooga.
Coach Womack worked and coached in the Catoosa County school system for more than 25 years. When he retired from coaching, he left Ringgold High School baseball with 376 wins, seven time Region Coach of the Year awards, six region champions, 12 state finishes. Coach Womack was inducted into the Georgia High School Dugout Hall of Fame on January 20, 2006.
The Ringgold High School baseball field is also named “Bill Womack Field” in honor of all his hard work and dedication to the many teams he coached.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. and Marjorie Womack, Ft. Oglethorpe; and his niece, Gina Womack-Santana.
Coach Womack is lovingly survived by his wife, Bennette Grant Womack; son, Tas (Brandi) Womack; daughter, Jamie (Bill) Womack Cole; granddaughters, Mia and Millie Womack and another expected grandchild in September; brother, Douglas Womack; niece Angela Womack, and several nieces and nephews, Jaylen Pickett, Zachary Barfield, Zhane Johnson, Anabella Santana.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Parkway Baptist Temple with Pastor Wayne Loveless officiating. Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be the current members of the baseball team of Ringgold High School. Honorary pallbearers will be all former baseball players that he coached.
In lieu of flowers, Coach Womack asked that donations be made to the Dougout Clubs of either Ringgold High School, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, or Heritage High School.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, and 12-3 p.m. on Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
