John Charles Schenck, a wonderful father and businessman, 90, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, July 18, 2011.
A native of Minnesota, he had lived most of his life in Chattanooga. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
J.C. was the founder and owner of Lookout Mountain Tomato and Banana Co., Inc. and attended Hickory Valley Christian Church.
Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Iona (Tonie) Marie Schenck; son, Dale (Kathy) Schenck; daughters, Susan Moore and Judy (David) Cooper; granddaughters, Lynn Kropp, Nancy Simmons, Holly Ross; grandsons, Robert Moore and John Schenck; great-grandson, Robert Kropp; great-granddaughters, Clarissa Kropp, Emily Simmons, Kate Simmons and Kaelyn Schenck.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Lovelady officiating. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Valley Christian Church, 6605 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
