Moses Freeman Building War Chest For City Council Campaign

Moses Freeman, a former city administrator, is the leading fundraiser thus far among City Council candidates.

The resident of the MLK District listed $11,564 in contributions, including a $100 gift from Mayor Ron Littlefield. He has spent $3,975.

Today was the deadline for submitting quarterly campaign finance reports. Candidates who have named campaign treasurers are required to file reports at this time.

Mr. Freeman is seeking the District 8 post held by Andrae McGary, who is running for the state Senate. Mr. Freeman is the only candidate in the race thus far.

Freeman contributors include $1,000 from himself, $250 from James Miller, $749.58 from Walter Williams, $500 from Al Chapman, $250 from Willie Chapman, $250 from Ronnie Berke, $150 from Scott Probasco Jr., $250 from Albert Waterhouse, $300 from Charles Clevenger, $250 from John Germ, $150 from Frank McDonald, $200 from Ivan Toney, $200 from W. Carter, $500 from Chris Crimmins, $500 from Will Smith, $300 from B.L. Parks, $250 from Rayburn Traughber, $200 from Franklin Alford, $150 from Becky Browder, $250 from Fred McClure, $1,000 from Louise Freeman and $250 from Charles Turner. 

Larry Grohn reported a $2,885 personal loan in his quest for the District 4 seat long held by Jack Benson. He has spent $625.

Mr. Benson reported $7,000 in receipts, including $2,000 each from brothers Byron and Ken Defoor. He also got $500 from John Foy, $500 from Ben Landress, $500 from C. and Constance Willett, $1,000 from Bobby Fairbanks and $500 from Paula Henderson. Councilman Benson has spent $1,700.

Tom Tomisek, another District 4 candidate, listed $1,900 in receipts and $432 spent.

Roger Tuder, who is running in District 2 for the seat being vacated by Sally Robinson, listed no money received or spent.

Ryan King, District 1 contender, said he has received $806, including $100 from John Eaves and $500 he loaned to the campaign. He has spent $408.

Ken Smith in District 3 has taken in $420. 

Chris Anderson in District 7 had $3,876 in receipts and has spent $2,693.

His contributors include Lindsay Barrett $125, Jennifer Bisse II $125, Betty Brooks $200, Patricia Dyer $200, Adam Izell $350, Jay Roark $532, Jena Robinson $250, Raymond Ryan $300, Mark Siedleci $1,000, Pris Siskin $450 and Jerry Tidwell $500.
