Scenic City Women’s Network announced that speaker/author Carolyn Custis James will be the keynote speaker at the organization’s “We All Ask Why?” Annual Praise Breakfast event to be held from 7-9 a.m. on June 28, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.  Music and a CD dedicated to the theme will be provided by Eric Parker, from Music for Missions.

The event is open to the public, and both men and women are encouraged to attend.

Tickets are $20 each, or $160 for a table; group discounts are also available. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the organization at 698-6262 or romaine@scwn.org.

Carolyn Custis James is known for saying, “the moment the word ‘why’ crosses your lips you are doing theology.” Her book, “When Life and Beliefs Collide,” delves into the subject that what we know and believe about God is the basis for how we deal with tragedy in our lives. With so many people in the Chattanooga area facing the devastating aftershocks of the tornados, illness, job loss and economic hardship, the organization was moved to lead this much-needed and timely ministry for the community.

The event is a kick-off to a year-long campaign of book/Bible studies and discussion groups to address what people believe about God and how this affects them in the midst of the “whys?” in their lives. The organization is looking to partner with local churches and Bible teachers to lead small groups to study the book “When Life and Beliefs Collide.” To participate or register your church or study group on the “We All Ask Why” listing, contact romaine@scwn.org.
