The Southeast Center for Education in the Arts fifth national Arts & Education Forum, Walking the Talk: Pathways to Quality Integration, takes place at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Friday and Saturday. The conference will be in the University Center from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. each day.
50 educators and evaluators will explore pathways to quality arts integration, the way in which various arts integration programs have followed these paths, and the impact on programs when these paths are taken.
Guiding participants in “walking the talk” of quality arts integration will be Dr. Bennett Lentczner, president of RealVisions, and Drs. Linda Whitesitt and Elda Franklin, authors of The ARTS Book: Designing Quality Arts Integration with Alignment, Rigor, Teamwork and Sustainability.
Four panel sessions featuring 22 discussants will focus on alignment and program design, professional development, curriculum and instruction, and teamwork and sustainability.
Organizations represented by panel members include Austin Peay State University, Battle Academy for Teaching and Learning,California State University East Bay, Education Arts Team, Hartford Performs, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,Kensington Parkwood Elementary School, Manhattan New Music Project, McAllen Independent School District, North Carolina Museum of Art, Penn State University, Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Towson University, University of Texas at Austin, Woodburn School for Fine Arts, and Young Playwrights Inc.
