Chattanooga Police Officer Relieved From Duty After Drinking At Riverbend; Was Veteran Of 25 Years

Chattanooga Police Officer Steve Jones was relieved from duty Saturday night during the Riverbend Festival.  

Jones was reported to be under the influence of alcohol while on duty where he was riding an assigned Chattanooga Police motorcycle. His blood was drawn and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations for results of the alcohol content.  

The investigation is ongoing, and he is facing possible internal policy violations as well as criminal charges. Jones is a 25-year veteran with the police department.

There are further concerns of how the preliminary investigation was handled which is being reviewed by the Internal Affairs Division.
