Father, 2 Children Still Missing After Boat Overturns In Hiwassee River

An adult and two children are missing after a boat overturned in the Hiwassee River on Wednesday. The children are said to be under 10 years old.

A Delano, Tn., man was making a canoe trip with his five children when the craft overturned near where the Hiwassee meets the Conasauga River.

The location is near Delano, which is in Polk County.

Three of the children made it safely to shore.

The family is part of the local Mennonite community.

Rescue crews called off the search around dark on Wednesday and searched again from daybreak Thursday until around noon.
