Mary Elizabeth Landreth Eaves, 89, a life-long resident of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2013, at her home.

A 1942 graduate of Red Bank High School, Mary had worked for American Lava, The Bell Telephone Company, Boyd-Buchanan School and Loveman’s Department Store. She also was the bookkeeper for Eaves Construction.

Mary was a Christian. She worshiped and worked for over 40 years with the saints at Brainerd Church of Christ  where she taught the two and three year old Bible class for many of those years. As of late, she loved to worship with the saints at the Tyner Church of Christ and also with her friends at Martin-Boyd Christian Home. She especially enjoyed being outdoors, mowing the grass and working in her yard! She was an avid knitter and was always seeking ways to help others.

She was the daughter of the late Lavenia Taylor Landreth and Henry Arthur Landreth. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Martin L. Eaves. Also preceding her were three sisters, Lula L. Wilson, Barbara L. Sims, Bessie L. Jarnagin and an infant brother, William V. Landreth.

She is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline E. Kosakowski (Frank), Woodstock, Ga., and Jennifer E. McDougal (Terry), Cleveland, Tn.; two sons: Gregory Eaves (Sharon), Cleveland; Randall Eaves (Connie), Chatsworth; and her two beloved grandsons: Martin W. McDougal and Oliver E. McDougal, Cleveland; sister and brother-in-law: Irene and Billy Jarnigan, Chickamauga; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: George and Vickie Eaves, Chattanooga; sisters-in law: Anna Klein, Chattanooga, Judy Cocoris, Glendora, Ca., and Betty Jo Smith, Chattanooga. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful neighbors and friends.

Graveside service and interment will be on Friday, Nov. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m., and Friday from 9:30–10 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Agape, 3094 Mercer University Drive, Suite 200, Atlanta, Ga. 30341 or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.
