City To Apply For 3 Safe Routes To School Grants

The city plans to apply for three "Safe Routes to School" grants providing funding for establishment of a pathway for three local schools.

One would be a pedestrian link between Big Ridge Elementary School and the sidewalks of area subdivisions and to the North Chickamauga Creek Greenway Trail, in the amount of $300,000.

A second would link Lakeside Academy School to residential and commercial areas, extend bike lanes to the school, and provide students education about how to safely walk and bike to school, in the amount of $300,000.

The third is for pedestrian and bicycle facilities linking Woodmore Elementary School with students of the surrounding neighborhood, It is also for $300,000.
