TBI And Scott County Sheriff's Department Charge Scott County Man With Weekend Homicide

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday arrested and charged a Scott County man with a homicide that occurred over the weekend.

Gerald Nelson, 50, of Helenwood, was arrested on one count of criminal homicide for shooting 31-year-old Dustin Gunter to death at Nelson’s residence located at 809 Logap Road. Mr. Gunter and his girlfriend were staying overnight at Nelson’s residence on Saturday, and it was reported the two men began arguing over $400 and gunfire erupted. Mr. Gunter was found shot to death in the kitchen area of the residence.

Nelson was booked into the Scott County Jail on $250,000 bond.
