Graham Says Lookout Valley Parents Up In Arms Over Transfer Of Elementary Principal

  • Thursday, May 30, 2013

County Commissioner Joe Graham said Lookout Valley residents are up in arms over the loss of elementary principal Regina Brock.

He said a community meeting has been set for next Thursday at 7 p.m. at the John A. Patten Center to try to raise support to reverse the decision.

Supt. Rick Smith announced over the weekend that Ms. Brock will leave Lookout Valley Elementary and become principal at Thrasher Elementary on Signal Mountain.  Ms. Brock has been with HCDE since 1987.

Alisan Taylor, current assistant principal at Nolan Elementary on Signal Mountain, is due to become principal at Lookout Valley Elementary.  Ms. Taylor has been with HCDE since 1984.

Commissioner Graham said, "Our parents ain't happy. We have had six principal changes in 12 years at that school. They are crammed down our throat and, when we ask about them, we get no response. We're told it's none of our darned business. That's disrespectful."

He added, "All these principal changes can't be good for a school."
