Marcia Ellen Stewart Bramlet, 92, died on Friday July 26, 2013 at Manorhouse Assisted Living where she had lived for the past four years.  

She was born on June 5, 1921 in McHenry County, Illinois, to Adelbert Lawrence Stewart and Carrie Belle Curtis Stewart.  She graduated from Marengo Community High School in 1939 and from the University of Illinois in 1943 with a BS degree. 

Marcia married James Baker Bramlet on June 9, 1944.  They lived in El Paso TX, Athens, Huntsville, and Guntersville, AL, Chattanooga, and Harlingen, TX. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play bridge all her life. She was an excellent water skier, square and round dancer, and mother.  She will be missed by her family.  

Marcia was predeceased by her husband, James Bramlet and her brother, Arthur Stewart of Cincinnati, OH.  

She is survived by her sister, Marie Baker of Scottsbluff, NE, her children, Marilyn Shelton (Harold Peterson) of Seattle, Ann Groves (David) of Lookout Mountain, TN, Jan Bramlet (William Hathaway) of Nashville, and six grandchildren, Caroline Shelton (Steve Hurd) Seattle, Margaret Shelton, Moscow, Russia, David Groves, Los Angeles, Stewart Groves, Los Angeles, Mary Margaret Groves, Lookout Mountain, and Mackenzie Hathaway, Nashville.

We wish to thank the friends and staff at Manorhouse Assisted Living and the excellent care from Hospice of Chattanooga who supported Marcia through her final days.  The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to The Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation, PO Box 46, Chattanooga, TN, 37401 in honor of Marcia Bramlet.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
