A number of early views of the industrial section known as Tannery Flats are among the rarities found among the Stokes Photo Collection.

Tannery Flats was wedged between College and Cameron hills and the Tennessee River in the vicinity of the present Alstom.

The more than 700 photos from around 1900 are being published in an upcoming book by Chattanoogan.com

The photo book will be in an 11x8 1/2 format with a soft cover.

There will be a limited run of 1,000 copies of the almost-600-page book to be printed by College Press at Collegedale.

The photo book is due to be ready for mailing or pickup around the first of November in time for Christmas giving.

The price of the book is $35.

For those who want it mailed, add $5 and list where copies should be mailed to. Send checks for $40 to Chattanoogan.com.
