Walter Popp
Walter Frederick Popp, 94, of Hixson, died on Friday, November 07, 2014 at his home.
He was born May 15, 1920 in Taunton, Ma., to the late Frederick and Emma Popp.
Mr. Popp graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy and served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the SS Bull.
He had a long career with TVA and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and recently attended Alpine Crest Baptist Church.
He loved outdoor activities and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends.
His wife, Margaret Popp, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Robin Popp of Chattanooga; Tom (Starr) Popp of Hixson; Eric (Joy) Popp of Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren, Anakela Popp, Jared Popp, Nathan Popp, Maile Popp, Colton Popp, Haley Popp, Bryson Popp, and Selena Popp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. in the North Chapel with Reverend Jim Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2-5 p.m. and Monday, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the North Chapel.
