Chapman, Voleta (Cleveland)

Voleta Chapman, 90, of Cleveland, TN, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014 at the family residence. 

Mrs. Chapman was the daughter of the late Effie Beard Epperson and Clinton Epperson; and was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Ansley and Jordin Davis; her sisters, Kayrene Epperson, Elwanda Epperson and Nell Wattenbarger; and her brothers, Weyman Epperson, Jack Epperson and Julian Epperson. 

Mrs. Chapman enjoyed being a grandmother and rocking her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, canning and bookkeeping. Mrs. Chapman was a very active church member at First Baptist Church. She was a 30 plus member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Ozel Pearman Bible Study. She also enjoyed working the church nursery. She was a special lady who loved children, her family and her church! You have a special, honored place in our hearts!

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, James D. “J. D.” Chapman of Cleveland; her daughter, Susie Davis and her husband Tommy; her sons, Jimmy Chapman and his wife Paula, Dennis Chapman and his wife Tina and Phillip Chapman; her daughter-in-law, Pauline Chapman; her grandchildren, James Paul Chapman and his wife Angela, Brian Chapman and his wife Angie, Brandi Cameron and her husband Eric, Breanna Jo Chapman, Arhmin Thompson and her husband Steven and Chelsey Davis; her great-grandchildren, Joseph Chapman, Abram Chapman, Alexis Tracy, Megan Tracy, Cole Chapman, Emory Jaye Thompson and Truett Thompson; her sisters, Oleta Kibble and her husband Kenneth, Dean Gary, Norma Stephenson and her husband Buddy, Betty Jo Davis and Sue Falasco and her husband Pat; her brother, Don Epperson and his wife Doris; her sisters-in-law, Wilma and Virginia Epperson; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Steve Morgan officiating. 

Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted Friday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. from the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Tom Wickes officiating. James “Jimmy” Chapman, Dennis Chapman, Phillip Chapman, James Paul Chapman, Brian Chapman Steven Thompson and Eric Cameron will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
