Concrete Repair Scheduled For Ramp On I-24 West Near Mile Marker 183 In Hamilton County

  • Thursday, May 15, 2014

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close the ramp on I-24 West in Hamilton County at Exit 183A (between Belvoir Avenue and Moore Road) on Thursday night and throughout this weekend to perform concrete repair.

On Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Friday morning the contractor will have the ramp closed to saw concrete slabs in preparation for weekend concrete ramp repair.  Beginning on Friday at 10 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m., the contractor will have the ramp closed to perform concrete slab repair work on the ramp.

The two left lanes of I-24 West will remain open during this work.  Traffic needing access to North Terrace Road from I-24 West will be directed to use Exit 184.  Traffic entering I-24 West from North Terrace Road will be directed to use the on ramp to I-24 West from Germantown Road.

Caution should be used while traveling through the work zone.  During this work, THP will assist with traffic control.  Also, traffic information will be displayed on TDOT’s SmartWay Dynamic Message Signs, and several message boards will be used to provide traffic information to the public.

This concrete repair work is being done as part of a statewide on-call concrete repair contract.  This work is weather dependent.  Should weather or unforeseen circumstances postpone this work, it will be rescheduled to take place as soon as possible.

For travel information visit the TDOT SmartWay web site at www.tn.gov/tdot/tdotsmartway or call 5 1 1.  You can also receive traffic alerts via TDOT’s multiple Twitter feeds, including statewide traffic tweets @TN511 or Chattanooga area alerts @Chattanooga511.

Android and iPhone users can download TDOT’s SmartWay Mobile App to assist them in navigating Tennessee highways.  The app provides up-to-the-minute customized traffic information and enables the user to access TDOT’s SmartWay cameras, messages displayed on overhead Dynamic Message Signs, and information on construction related lane closures and incidents on interstates and state routes.  The TDOT SmartWay App is free and available for download in the Apple App Store and Play Store for Android.

As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and Know Before You Go! by checking travel conditions before leaving for their destination.  Drivers should never tweet, text or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel.
