Lizzie Sanderfur
Lizzie Ann Sanderfur, 82, died on May 7, 2014 at a local hospital.
She was born in Chattanooga, on Sept. 18, 1931, in the Turkey Foot Community.
She attended the Chattanooga Public Schools. Later on in life she received her GED certificate. She was self-employed as a Tennessee Top Ten Beautician and was owner of Bab’s Shop for Beauty.
She was a lifelong member of Joseph Chapel AME Church. She served as past president of the East Tennessee Conference Missionary Society.
She was preceded in death by parents John and Hattie Chandler; four sisters, seven brothers and daughter/twin, Bettye Sanderfur Williams.
She is survived by her sister, Grace Payeton; brother, Daniel Chandler; children, Rev. Barbara Sanderfur, Rev. Ben (Vernell) Sanderfur, Minister Willena Ellis, Pastor Donald (Mary) Sanderfur, Ronald Sanderfur; 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and very special friends.
Services will be held on Monday, Mary 12, at noon at Bethel AME Church with Reverend A. J. Holman, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Her body will lie in state after noon on Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 5–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
