Retired From TVA After 40 Years, And Was Tour Guide At The TVA Raccoon Mountain Facility

Forrest H. Harrill, 94, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014.

Mr. Harrill was born on Dec. 8, 1919, in Bostic, N.C., to Viola and Buron Harrill. He retired from TVA as chief power dispatcher after 40 years of service. He was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church where he was a member of the King’s Men Sunday School Class, involved with the Homebound Committee and served as a Greeter on Sunday mornings. He also volunteered with the TVA retirees and was a tour guide at TVA Raccoon Mountain facility.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary B. Harrill; and brothers, Jennings Harrill and Dr. Ernest Harrill.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy M. Harrill; daughters, Peggy (Larry) Radford of Bowling Green, Ky., and Mary Harrill O’Neal of Chattanooga; two stepsons, Dan Haley Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ga.,  Dave L. (Judy) Haley of Jefferson, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Daniel Paul Haley of Atlanta, Heather Ashley Haley of Atlanta, Heidi Marie Haley of South Korea, Adam Hunter Haley of Atlanta, Sandra (Mel) Emerson of Hammond, In., Larry A. (Catherine) Radford, Jr. of Hammond, In., Jill (Rob) Coon of Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom, Jennifer (Boyd) Morris of Cartersville, Ga., and Cathy (Keith) Eagle of Edwardsville, Il.; seven great-grandchildren, Michelle (Andy) Fejes of Schererville, In., Mel (Megan) Emerson of Hammond, In., Larry A. Radford III of Hammond, In., Amanda L. Radford of Hammond, In., Sophie Lynn Morris, Madeline Claire Morris and Grace Irene Eagle; two great-great-grandsons, Andrew and Jacob Fejes; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, and 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Rowland officiating.

Members of the King’s Men Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga for the love and care shown to Forrest.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
