Family Escapes Early Morning House Fire

  • Thursday, November 26, 2015

A home was damaged by fire early Thursday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department received a fire call at 3:48 a.m. and responded to 1825 Dixon Street with four fire companies.

The family inside the home was awakened by a passerby knocking at the door. All of them quickly made their way outside the home to safety.

Once firefighters arrived on scene, they witnessed flames visible from the ridge peak of the roof. Firefighters then made an aggressive interior attack while searching for anyone else inside the residence.

Exterior crews ventilated the roof of the home while attacking the fire from that direction. The fire was under control in about 20 minuets.

The estimated loss is about $20,000.

The cause of this fire is undetermined at this time.
