The Captain Midnight Band brings Clyde’s on Main through the night with some Glam Jam, Waterbed RocknRoll and Optical light show. This unique flavor of Jam and Rock n Roll of Captain Midnight crew added by Blueshift Optical Production (Gable Larramore) kept the crowd into the groove and jamming all night long.

Clyde’s has quickly become a live music venue where Artists/Bands want to land with their gigs. The crowds are appreciative and supportive of this relative new eatery music venue for the weekend Chattanooga Live Music (FB) scene.

The Captain Midnight Band front man is Joshua Cooker, who artistically takes responsibility for all the crashing, highs and lows in the music that keeps listeners drawn to the stage. Members: Captain Midnight, Lil Rae Rae, Thomas Banks Blake Watts and their freaky friends.

The preview video from Clyde’s featured is “Instant Buzz” cut off the band’s first CD Shady Box, also on their first EP Chamber of Thrill as Track 3.

The following notes are from their self-examination,

Internationally-ignored superstar, Captain Midnight is the world’s only known purveyor of “Waterbed Rock & Roll”. Since adopting the “persona” back when Clinton was in office, musician Joshua Cooker’s artistic vision has endured broken bones, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and more drummers than Spinal Tap, all to entertain your crazy bones.

What is “Waterbed Rock & Roll”? It’s kind of like Memphis Soul Stew with lasers, pointy guitars, and a bit of adult humor. Midnight combines Crunchy Rock Guitar Riffs, Thick R&B Grooves, and Soaring Vocal Harmonies to create a unique, yet familiar landscape for his suggestive, sci-fi imagery, and improvisational interplay.

A sexy, slick production in 2014 may have raised a few ear brows, but any fan will tell you that these songs are best-ripped in live setting. The group’s penchant for oddball improv, along with a rotating cast of killer players have helped sneak them through the back door of the hard-to-define “Jam Scene”. The band’s diverse appeal has resulted in club, theater, and festival dates with such acts as Cypress Hill, Dark Star Orchestra, Moe., The New Mastersounds, Jimmy Herring Band, Larry Keel, Cornmeal, Earphunk, David Gans, Col. Bruce Hampton, Keller Williams, Del McCoury Band, Karl Denson, and many more.

The first incarnation of the band was formed in New Orleans, but a post-Hurricane Katrina move to Nashville, TN allowed for more centralized touring, bigger networking opportunities, and a wider regional circle in which to freak. Flattering comparisons to genre-defying acts such as P-Funk, Frank Zappa, and Ween are evident in the relationship between band and audience, where a true energetic exchange is crafted and nurtured.
