BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference (GSC) recently released its Winter Academic Honor Roll and Lee University placed 16 student-athletes on the list, including 14 members of the NCCAA National Championship women’s basketball team and a pair of members of the Lee men’s squad.
?
Qualification for the Honor Roll is automatic and is based on a minimum 3.00 overall grade-point average.
?
"We're so proud of this group of young ladies on the court and in the classroom,” said Lee women’s coach Marty Rowe.
“Winning 23 games while maintaining a 3.66 GPA in the fall speaks volumes to the type of people we have on our team.
?
"Fourteen of our players being honored for academics are a testament to our program’s belief of recruiting well-rounded student-athletes"
Rowe went on to praise his assistant, Jan Spangler. “She does a great job of monitoring our academic progress and deserves credit for sustaining a high academic culture."
