Hunter, Robert "Rob" (South Pittsburg)

Robert “Rob” Hunter, 57, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

 

Rob was a graduate of the McCallie School in Chattanooga where he was a recipient of the Don C. Pegler award for citizenship.  He attended Emory and Henry College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  He was a lifelong member of Holly Avenue United Methodist Church and had served as Chattanooga district president of the United Methodist Youth.

 

Rob worked most of his career in radio media in various cities throughout the Southeast, including Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Kentucky. He was the recipient of numerous regional, state and national media awards. Rob never met a stranger and his work afforded him the opportunity to make a great number of friendships that continued throughout his life.

 

He loved music, theater and drama.  He also enjoyed playing the drums and pursuing his hobby of photography.  For a short time, he had a catering business that allowed him to demonstrate his love for cooking.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, J. Samuel Hunter and his maternal grandfather, Robert W. Sanders.

 

He is survived by his wife, Alicia Hunter; mother, Mary S. Hunter; brother, David (Angie) Hunter; daughter, Michelle Stacy; son, Wesley Stacy; grandmother, Anna Marie Sanders; two granddaughters; one niece; one nephew; eight cousins; and many friends.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Central Time on Saturday, May 16, at Holly Avenue United Methodist Church, 413 Holly Avenue, South Pittsburg, TN 37380. 

 

Friends are encouraged to come to the church at 10 a.m. Central Time to visit with the family and also to share memories during the memorial service.
