Godin, Amanda

Amanda Godin, 37, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday June 22, 2015 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Amanda was born on February 14, 1978 a daughter of Jeff & Rachel Myers. Amanda was an incredible wife, mother, and friend who loved cooking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends … who eventually became family.  Throughout her life, she served others through living out her walk with Christ, volunteering with various organizations and meeting needs as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Her family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances often saw her heart in action – investing her time and talents, being an encouragement when people needed it most, and inspiring those around her to live up to their greatness.  She was a strong and brave warrior in the face of adversity and lived an exemplary life.

Amanda is survived by her husband of 14 years, Gary Godin; her son, Trenton “Tag” Godin; her father and mother, Jeff and Rachel Myers; her brother, Jason Myers and his wife, Jen Myers; brothers- and sisters-in-law and their families; numerous other extended family members; and many dear friends.

As she wanted, a celebration of her life is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 at Ridgedale Baptist Church, located at 1831 Hickory Valley Road in Chattanooga.  Pastor Ryan May from the Net Church, Amanda’s home church, will be officiating with additional participation from family and friends.  Her family would be honored with your attendance.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a new foundation established in her name – Amanda Godin Cancer Foundation, 2288 Gunbarrel Road, Suite 154, PMB 244, Chattanooga, TN 37421.  This foundation will continue her legacy of encouraging and inspiring, similar to how she lived throughout her journey. #NeverForgetAG

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
