TWRA To Host 2nd Becoming An Outdoors Woman ATV Workshop

  • Friday, July 31, 2015

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host its second Becoming an Outdoors-Woman All-terrain Vehicle Workshop Sept. 11-13 at North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area.

The ATV workshop became the latest addition to the Beyond BOW program. The workshop headquarters will be at the RideRoyalBlue.com ATV Guest Resort & Campground, in the heart of the Cumberland Mountains about 45 miles north of Knoxville.

“The participants really enjoyed our first event and we are looking forward to hosting one again this year,” said Donald Hosse, TWRA Wildlife program coordinator. “The ATV class is one of our most popular at our annual workshop and we are looking forward to having a weekend concentrating on ATV riding at a great location.”

Participants will arrive on Friday evening from 4-6 p.m. with dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. On Saturday following breakfast, an ATV Orientation Safety Course will be conducted. Following completion of the session, participants will begin trail riding and lunch will be held at the elk viewing tower. Trail riding will continue in the afternoon.

More than 430 miles of mountain trails are available at North Cumberland WMA. North Cumberland WMA consists of more than 130,000 acres.

Space is limited for the workshop. The cost is $150 which includes lodging in a cabin for two nights, meals, WMA permit, ATV use and required safety equipment. If a participant has her own ATV, she is welcome to bring it to the workshop.

An application is available on the TWRA website and at TWRA regional offices. For more information, contact Donald Hosse at don.hosse@tn.gov or 615 781-6541.
