Signal Mountain High School Theatre Presents The Laramie Project Oct. 27-29

Bye Bye Birdie To Be Spring Show

  • Tuesday, October 4, 2016

The Signal Mountain High School Theatre Department's 2016-2017 productions will include The Laramie Project, Senior Scenes, and Bye Bye Birdie!

The Laramie Project will be presented in the Signal Mountain Middle High School Theatre Oct. 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Signal Mountain Theatre.

The Laramie Project is by Moises Kaufman. The play is based on interviews of the citizens of Laramie, Wy. after the infamous death of Matthew Shepard. Based on a true story, the play gives insight into the aftermath of Shepard’s murder, and how it affected the people of Laramie and the rest of the world.

As the play discusses some sensitive  content, a PG rating has been established.

In February, the seniors of the Signal Mountain High School Theatre Department will direct scenes from a production of their choosing. These will be performed and adjudicated by a group of regional theatre professionals.

For the spring production, the group will present the musical Bye Bye Birdie.  Travel with Conrad Birdie to the state of Ohio, as he takes on the journey of a lifetime to kiss his biggest fan before his draft.  This is a family friendly comedy.
