Viet Nam Veteran Retired From Norfolk Southern Railway

Ronnie Darnell Edwards, 67, died on March 25, 2016, at his residence. 

Ronnie was the youngest son of Walter Edwards, Sr. and Thelma Edwards Wooley.

Ronnie graduate from Riverside High School class of 1966 and retired from Norfolk-Southern Railway after 17½ years of service as a mechanic.  His early retirement was due to illness.  Ronnie was a Vietnam Era veteran and former owner of Edwards Ceramic and Tile Company.  He accepted Christ at the age of 42 at New United Missionary Baptist Church and was a devoted member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and loving wife, Cheyenne Cooper Edwards.

He is survived by his son, Rhett G. Edwards; daughter, Chantele Edwards Carr; sisters, Patricia A. Edwards and Linda P. Edwards; brother, Walter Edwards, Jr.; grandchildren, Savannah Edwards, Myles Edwards and Asha Lee; nieces, nephews, many other family members and devoted friends.

The funeral service will held at 11 a.m. at St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church Friday, April 1, with Pastor Billy Church officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, March 31, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
